Is it possible to memorize the multiplication table without tedious hours spent reading books? In school lessons and favorite notebooks, children are told about 100 examples with which you can learn all the variations of numbers. However, we have found a simple and visual way to learn how to multiply numbers up to 10, remembering only 36!

This is more effective and useful than learning through cards, magnets, puzzles, formulas, and even circles and pens, where the treasured table is drawn. We will share our secrets with which multiplication will become an entertaining game.

**Life hack 1: reduce from 100 to 36**

Let’s remember how we usually represent the multiplication table:

Looks a bit… boring, right? And how sad it is for a child to look at it, whose curiosity is instantly replaced by sadness at the sight of countless columns.

Of course, memorizing all the variations is also one of the ways to remember the results of multiplication, however, it is not the easiest and rather long. Therefore, we propose to present this topic in a different way: we train a total of 36 combinations. For such an abbreviated representation, it will be convenient for us to use the Pythagorean table:

Did you know that you can talk about the principles of multiplication through the area of rectangles? Look, on the example of such a table, it will be very simple:

- 5 * 3 u003d 15, 15 small squares fit in a rectangle with this length of sides (count with your child to be sure)
- 3 * 5 = 15, for the same reason (repeat together)

And here we have a new discovery: it turns out that if we swap the factors, the product will remain the same – here you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Thanks to this property, we can happily discover that the Pythagorean table is diagonally symmetrical, so there are only 55 options left to memorize!

Now let’s do this interactive task: take your pencils and write down the numbers in half of the table below, where only the factors are marked:

Such a simulator will allow the child to independently make a discovery about symmetry. And if he still does not know how to multiply, you can use the rules of addition. The fastest way is this: add 2 + 2, then 4 + 2, then 6 + 2 and so on up to 20. Similarly, fill in the rest of the rows.

Having filled in a small square (for example, with sides of 6 and 6 cells), we can easily notice that very symmetry. Now it becomes clear that learning the entire table is not necessary at all!

Our tips don’t end there: let’s see how to cut down 19 more operations – multiplying by one and multiplying by 10.

- If you multiply a number by one, it stays the same.
- If you multiply by 10, the number will acquire only one sign – zero at the end.

Be sure to check this with your baby, you will find clear evidence in the same Pythagorean table.

**So, the result of our little lesson is the following: the multiplication table is not as scary as it seems. It has only 36 combinations that are important to remember. This is almost three times less than what we see in textbooks and on the covers of notebooks!**

We hope our cheat sheet will help you in mastering the most exact science.

**Life hack 2: multiplication on fingers**

Multiplying by 9 is very often difficult, so we will help you make this process easier. All you need is your palms! Let’s turn our hands with our palms facing us and give each finger an imaginary number, in order from 1 to 10.

And now comes the time of magic: we multiply, for example, 4 by 9. We bend the fourth finger in a row from left to right. How many fingers before it are tens, we get “3”, and after it – units – “6” in our case.

So we get 36!

**Life hack 3: play multiplication**

No tutorial will convey information as easily and clearly as a game. Board games are a storehouse of useful knowledge for the young genius of mathematics! It is incredibly important to tell the child about multiplication in a language he understands: tactile (hold it in his hands) and visual (see it with his own eyes). This is the magic contained in the entertaining games of the publisher **“Gang of smarties”**. Your child will learn to multiply numbers with a smile and burning eyes! And to interest the child in learning is the main thing that we can do.

**Cool multiplication games**

The game** “Very much”** – a clear and easy way to get acquainted with multiplication. It allows children not only to learn how to easily multiply numbers from 1 to 5, but also to see with their own eyes how the multiplication process takes place – colorful cards with transparent windows will help with this! If you connect two cards on which one and two windows are drawn, you get a house with three windows – clearly, simply and fun.

Planting flowers, sometimes uprooting them, surprise other players, and most importantly – to learn, well, what could be more interesting? In Game** “Tsvetarium”** there will be many illustrative examples of multiplication, which will not only be well remembered, but also have fun! The main idea of the game is to grow the right amount of flowers to sell: for example, three beds of eight flowers to get “24”. In the game, you can help other players or, conversely, train the competitive spirit and be a little mischievous.

The game **“Delissimo”** will introduce the child to fractions and teach them to perform various operations with them: add, reduce and bring them to a common denominator. All these operations are carried out on the example of delicious pizza slices with different ingredients, so the whole family can play.

**Fun multiplication tasks**

Even multiplication in a column can be turned into an exciting game. Educational tThe “Decide-Write” notebooks will help with this. The secret of the effectiveness of notebooks lies in the smooth complication, visual explanation and fascinating stories.

They perfectly develop thinking, intellect and logic, and topics from the mathematics course, which were previously studied “with a scratch” and only from boring textbooks (multiplication in a column, examples with brackets, multiplication of multi-digit numbers) will now be mastered fun and easy.

With such notebooks it will be interesting even to prepare for school during the holidays!
